Owing to the current legal landscape, citizen suits remain one of the best routes for persons harmed by pollution to seek redress. Whereas many environmental enforcement actions can only be launched by government agencies, citizen suits can be pursued by any party which can satisfy the standing test outlined by the Supreme Court in the Lujan case.
